Love for Ukraine

As the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine deepens, we want to help. We are calling on schools, families and communities to directly support Ukrainian refugee families through our Love For Ukraine video project and fundraising campaign.

Thank you for your big hearts and generous support!

Thank you to the youth, families and schools from 23 states and 4 countries who submitted 97 heart-felt videos with messages of love and support for Ukraine.

Love for Ukraine Fundraising Campaign

According to the United Nations, out of the 6.9 million people who have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the war, more than 3.6 million have made their way to Poland.

Our Kids for Peace Program Director, Asia Moore, is from Poland. Her brother, Maciek Żak, lives in Poland and has joined the enormous Polish grassroots movement to offer free transport and accommodation to the refugees. Kids for Peace in partnership with local Polish volunteers launched a fundraising campaign to hand-deliver cash donations to Ukrainian mothers and their children to help them meet their most fundamental needs.

Thanks to the outpouring of support, we not only met our initial goal of supporting 200 refugees but have already exceeded our fundraising goals 4 times! To date, thanks to YOU, we were able to directly help 1,873 refugees. Below, please see pictures from 5 touching distribution events with the Ukrainian families.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude as we humbly continue to raise funds and facilitate this direct support.

280 Refugees in Kozy, Poland

Thanks to our generous supporters, we reached our initial goal and were able to raise funds to support 280 Ukrainian refugees who found shelter in the town of Kozy, Poland. Our Kids for Peace staff was even able to Zoom with the families at a special gathering where we shared the heartfelt video messages from our youth. You may see a short video of the gathering with the Ukrainian refugees here.

350 Refugees in Porabka Village

Porabka is a small village of around 3,800 people who are currently hosting 350 Ukrainian refugees.

200 Refugees in Lipnik, Bielsko-Biała

Lipnik is a district of Bielsko-Biala city with nearly 6,000 people who are hosting over 200 Ukrainian refugees. Currently, there are over 40 Ukrainian children enrolled at the local Polish elementary school and we will directly support those children, their siblings, mothers and grandparents. In addition there are children – mostly orphans and children with disabilities – in the care of local churches and community centers who need our help. Below, you will see photos from the distribution event, organized at a local elementary school.

450 Refugees in Bestwina and Surrounding Communities

Thanks to a mighty group of local Polish volunteers as well as Bestwina firefighters, we were able to organize another heart-warming Love for Ukraine gathering on May 13th, 2022. Thanks to YOU, we were able to directly support 450 Ukrainian mothers and children. The event was truly special and in addition to the showing of the Love for Ukraine video created by youth from kids around the world it also included special musical performances of the Ukrainian and Polish children. The event brought not only the much-needed financial support but truly filled everyones’ hearts and uplifted the spirits!

593 Refugees in Tychy and Surrounding Communities

With the amazing help of local activists, volunteers and local Polish youth (who decorated the envelopes and You Are Loved hearts), in August we hosted 5 events throughout the city of Tychy, Poland to distribute financial support to Ukrainian refugee families staying in local hospitals, welfare institutions and hotels. Our local partners teamed up with the city’s social welfare center to identify and directly support families and individuals who are in need of extra support due to disabilities, grief after losing family members to war and/or whose homes have been completely destroyed in the conflict.

Thank you to the generous individuals, families and schools for supporting the Love for Ukraine campaign. A special thanks to the below schools, which organized school-wide community fundraisers to send love and support to the Ukrainian families. We are so grateful!
